Our FAQ section is here to help you with your geothermal related queries.
How cold can geothermal cooling get in summer?
Geothermal systems remain efficient even in some of the most extreme temperatures because they depend on the underground loops, not the temperature of the air outside. Your geothermal system can keep your home between 45 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
How deep do you have to go for geothermal cooling?
We use sophisticated drilling equipment to drill a hole straight down from 300 - 400 feet and then run a U-shaped water loop to siphon the energy from the ground. If a large amount of land is available, trenches can be dug about 4 feet deep, and the looping can be run horizontally.
How much does a geothermal well cost?
Geothermal wells are the most expensive part of the geothermal installation process. Their price varies widely depending on the company, location, size of the space, and difficulty reaching said space with the equipment. Call us for a specific estimate.
Is geothermal better than solar?
Geothermal energy does not rely on the sun, so the system can always run without external dependencies. Geothermal HVAC is like using a glass jar to collect water instead of using a colander. It requires significantly less effort because it does a great job collecting water. Using solar energy in combination with a conventional HVAC system is like soaking water up with a sponge and wringing it out into a colander.
Is geothermal really clean?
Yes, Geothermal does not use gas to run like conventional water heaters, and many furnaces do, making it carbon-zero.
Does geothermal work in extreme cold?
Yes, geothermal systems run water through loops buried underground. When your home is cold, the geothermal system pulls the cold air out of your house and heat is generated by the speed in which water is being pushed through the loops underneath your home. The temperature underground remains constant, so the extreme weather on the surface does not affect this process.
Can you get geothermal energy anywhere?
Yes, as long as there is enough space to drill a vertical well, geothermal can be used practically anywhere.
Does geothermal really save money?
Yes. Geothermal systems cost more than conventional HVAC systems but outperform them in efficiency by over 300% on average. With the average US citizen's utility bill made up of 80% heating and cooling the home, geothermal systems save you money monthly by using less than half the amount of electricity a conventional heating and cooling system uses.
